Announces 2010 College Scholarship Winners
(Los Angeles) - - The Fernando Award Foundation, Inc., has announced the names of 10 high school seniors who have been selected as the 2010 winners of college scholarships. Every year, the Fernando Foundation honors high school seniors who have excelled in community service; their academic achievement is not the determining factor for this particular award.

“It’s gratifying to know that so many high school students can go to school full time and still find a way to volunteer many hours of community service at hospitals, retirement centers, and other charitable groups,” said Karl Boeckmann, Chairman of the Fernando Scholarship Committee. One student will be selected to receive a $2,000 scholarship award; the remaining will be honored with $1,000 scholarship awards each.

The Fernando Award Foundation has established this scholarship program to provide an incentive for continued education to those graduating high school seniors who are already engaged in community volunteer efforts. High Schools nominate candidates for recognition and scholarships. Winners are selected by the Fernando Award Foundation Scholarship Committee.
